For various criminal events that took place in the span of 5 years from 2018 to 2023, the police went to the names of the perpetrators even before the repentance of Artan Tafani.
At the time of the operation, 5 of the suspects were in prison. But unlike Tafani, they agreed to serve the sentence for the crimes they were suspected of and did not tell about other crimes they were implicated in.
In the prison premises, Fatjon Veliu, Idriz Manej, Ligor Romaçka, and Lulëzim Spahia learned that their accomplice in crime had broken down in front of the police and had talked about crimes that they believed would not be solved.
For the murder of Fridman Xhaferri, which occurred on June 2, 2021, the 1-year police investigation led to the names of Lulëzim Spahi, known by the nickname Arapi, and Kristi Bijheku, who were put in handcuffs as perpetrators of torturing and killing the young man in the reservoir of Gjançi in Vithkuq of Korça. Spahiu remains in prison for this criminal offense while his accomplice was released due to lack of evidence.
But, the analysis of Artan Tafani implicates Bixhek along with 5 other people for the murder of Fridman Xhaferri, which is suspected to have happened due to drug conflicts. But with the chance that justice gave him by letting him go free, Bixheku seems to have used it well and the police could not arrest him
According to Artani's confession, 31-year-old Ligor Romacka and 58-year-old Idriz Manej were also implicated in this murder, who were arrested 5 months after the murder, but for another criminal offense. Together with a lawyer, they tried to traffic 66 kg of cannabis to Greece. Now, in addition to this punishment, they will also face the charge of murdering Fridman Xhaferraj. Romacka is also a suspect for the murder of businessman Selim Çajupi in Tepelena where, according to Artan Tafani, together with Laert Haxhiu and 2 other people killed the businessman at the door of the house. The motives of this crime have not yet been clarified for the police.
In the long list of crimes that Laert Haxhiu's group has committed in 5 years, those motivated by conflicts between criminal groups or drug conflicts predominate. Some other crimes such as the murder of the businessman Dickens Halili in Greece, the businessman Çajup Semimi in Tepelena and the organization of the murder of the lawyer Adriatik Guri are suspected to have been committed for payment, but the financiers still remain a mystery. /TCH
