Democratic Party MP Ferdinand Xhaferraj spoke about the political situation in the country and what is happening in the DP after the May 11 elections.
Xhaferraj stated that DP leader Sali Berisha did not enter the elections with the aim of winning, but rather to advance his personal agenda, which now conflicts not only with the DP's agenda, but has also become a problem for Albanian society.
This is because with the election results, the government becomes more arrogant, which he justified with the attack that occurred against News24, while with a weak opposition, according to him, misgovernance goes further.
"Everyone expected it, knowing that it was a formal election. Given the way the DP behaved before the elections, it was never presented as a winning alternative. The appeal procedures are simply a formality. Berisha has not resigned and is therefore appealing the decision of May 11."
In these elections, both sides won, Rama who has the power and Berisha who did not enter to win, but to advance his personal agenda. It was a game where both sides won based on what they had on their agenda. Outside of the personal relationship and 30 years of cooperation in the DP, it was unfortunate that Berisha's personal agenda was against that of the DP, it is no longer a problem within the DP but has become a problem of Albanian society because with a weak opposition, misgovernment goes ahead.
"You left there and came to Prestige, with prestige, so the government becomes more arrogant. Even the elements within the SP who want to be a critical voice when they see a weak opposition are restrained.
The democratization of the DP is a social problem and its resurgence is an indisputable necessity," he told "News 24".
