The tragic event in Durrës, where two children lost their lives and a third was seriously injured, has brought strong reactions from politics and public opinion.
The head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, described the perpetrator of the incident as a "terrorist", and stressed that what happened cannot be considered simply a road accident.
In a reaction on social media, he stated that the driver of the vehicle was not an ordinary driver, but a person who committed a serious act.
"The tragic event in Durrës is not a road accident. The perpetrator is not a driver behind a wheel, but a terrorist!" Balla wrote in a post on social media.
The three children were on the sidewalk when a “Benz” vehicle, driven by 57-year-old Nikoll Radaçi, who was suspected of being drunk, lost control and hit them. After the accident, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. Police have arrested the perpetrator, while investigations continue to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Meanwhile, Democratic Party MP Jorida Tabaku reacted by raising concerns about the way the media is reporting. She stated that "information is an obligation, but human dignity is the limit that should not be crossed."
Tabaku called on the Audiovisual Media Authority to intervene to stop the broadcast of serious images and to guarantee respect for ethical standards in reporting.
"The tragedy in Durrës, with the loss of two innocent children's lives, has shocked everyone. Even more cruel is the unfiltered broadcast of the images of the accident that took their lives. Pain cannot be turned into a spectacle ," says Tabaku.
