Clashes between Ilir Meta and prosecutor Sotir Kllapi...
The Special Court has not yet made a decision on whether or not to proceed with the trial of the case against Ilir Meta, Monika Kryemadhi and the other defendants. In August of last year, SPAK closed the investigations and sent the case to court, but the delays continue.
Today, the Special Prosecution Office made its submissions, and it is learned that the session lasted approximately 8 hours. The prosecution has managed to read about 130 pages so far, with another 100 remaining, which will be read in the next session. The defense will then have its say and in the end the court will decide whether or not the file will go to trial. It is learned that prosecutor Sotir Kllapi has presented evidence and facts on the former President's affairs, causing debates in the session.
Earlier, Ilir Meta's defense lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, was also present, who provided details of the clashes.
" There was a tension between Mr. Meta and Mr. Kllapi. Kllapi was alone, Kraja and Dumani did not appear. After he reported, he was inaccurate, both in dates and at different times. This caused us to get irritated and interrupt him from time to time. We are in a preliminary session that must look at the procedural actions. At the moment when they deceive, as in the case of lobbying when in fact Meta has not signed any document...
They report facts that they interpret and the prosecutor said: 'I will report them, but these are not evidence'. We want concrete accusations against Mr. Meta, Kryemadhi, etc. How can the prosecutor come without a list of evidence?! We get irritated by every ambiguity that the prosecutor makes in his report ", explained the lawyer.
Meanwhile, SPAK has added to the "arsenal" of suspicions raised against the former President of the Republic, as among the evidence is a letter of intent received from the United States of America.
The Special Structure claims to have uncovered a new amount of nearly 280 thousand US dollars, illegally obtained and linked to the former President, under indictment for 3 criminal offenses. This concerns the consulting contract with the GSIS company, which is added to the initial amount for which the indictment was filed.
According to the indictment, Meta is accused of corruption in 3 different cases, 2 of which he committed in collaboration. The former President is accused of passive corruption of high-ranking state officials or local elected officials, money laundering and failure to declare assets.
His ex-wife, Monika Kryemadhi, is accused of passive corruption of senior state officials in 2 cases, money laundering and failure to declare assets.
Pirro Xhixho is also accused of passive corruption of high-ranking officials, committed in collaboration.
Meanwhile, Monika Kryemadhi's mother, Fatime Kryemadhi, is accused of money laundering, along with Ema Çoku. /Pamphlet
