The Statute forces Berisha to resign...
The Democratic Party and its coalition, the "Greater Albania Alliance", suffered a heavy defeat in the May 11 elections, despite growing calls for the election results to be rejected. The difference between Sali Berisha's Democrats and Edi Rama's Socialists is over 30 seats in favor of the SP, or over 250,000 votes in favor of the left.
Berisha's Democrats have announced that they have evidence and facts of manipulation, while they are also preparing what is considered the 'black file' of the 2025 elections, which, more for internal effect, will aim to convince the international factor, especially the American one, regarding the allegations of election manipulation.
And in parallel with these efforts, the question that arises is: will Berisha implement the status approved in the Assembly on December 11, 2021 for resignation?
This is what the leader of the Democratic Party has dubbed ' Article Basha ', which in the status of this party is article 46, point 8.
This article states " if, after the announcement of the results of the general elections for the Assembly, the Party does not result in a winning governing force, the mandate ends immediately and automatically due to the Statute. In this case, the chairman whose mandate ends is not allowed to run in the subsequent elections for party chairman ."
And this article that Berisha himself proposed, approved, and debated for a long time with his own people to make it part of the status, is today in question as to whether he will implement it or not.
Today, tomorrow, in a week or even a month, Berisha can find a thousand and one reasons not to leave, using every kind of claim and argument that Edi Rama stole the elections, even though he swore that the elections would not be affected, that the opposition had taken measures, that there were 4 international resolutions that branded Rama as a manipulator.
In fact, today we have a preliminary OSCE/ODIHR report that is harsher than that of the 2021 elections, but on the other hand we have a Prime Minister who has received a majority almost within the limits of the constitutional one, at least 9 more MPs than he had before May 11.
It now remains to be seen whether Berisha will accept the implementation of the article, as there is still no one within his party to ask for his resignation or removal, while the leader of the Democrats himself has declared that 'his removal is in God's hands'. / Pamphlet /
