Has Erdogan intervened for the "Sea" between Albania and Greece? Rama:
Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Turkey Erdogan

In a long interview with the Greek journalist Pavlos Papadhopulos, the head of the Albanian government, Edi Rama, also spoke about the issue of the sea between Albania and Greece, an issue which has already been sent to the International Court of Justice in The Hague. Rama said that he is very pleased to have reached this agreement with the Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras.

During the interview with Kathemirini, Prime Minister Edi Rama was asked if the President of Turkey Erdogan interfered in the agreement on the sea issue between Albania and Greece. Rama said that these are conspiracy theories and that the Turkish president is not anti-Greek according to Rama.

Excerpt from the interview:

Journalist: There are suspicious voices. You know those suspicious voices that say that Edi Rama prefers the strategic friendship of President Erdogan and President Erdogan does not want an agreement between Greece and Albania, because such an agreement can be used as a model for a future agreement in the Aegean between Greece and Turkey. Is this another conspiracy story?

Rama: That's quite a conspiracy theory. First, because when I challenged the agreement in court, I had never met President Erdogan and I had no connection with anyone in Turkey, because we were in opposition. Second, yes, we have a strategic partnership agreement with President Erdogan, but I don't think we should choose between President Erdogan or Kyriakos Mitsotakis, between Greece and Turkey. We love both. The fact that you don't like each other too much shouldn't be a problem for us to like you both, I think. President Erdoğan has never, never told you this and it is my word against conspiracy theories, he has not asked me, nor even asked me, what is going on with this. Never! Never!

He does not need Albania to fight his battles. Since we are talking about President Erdogan, I tell you, my feeling is that President Erdogan is not anti-Greek. President Erdogan is the one, that you know very well, I believe, he had the courage when he was not yet who he is today, but he was only the prime minister, to put an agreement on Cyprus on the table, you remember, which was something quite dangerous for his career him in Ankara and did it. Then he was - I won't use that strong word, but something similar, you can find in Greek a softer word - from the European Union! Then during the severe crisis that Greece went through, I didn't see him take the opportunity to make it worse, because if he wanted to destroy Greece or if he intends to destroy Greece,

He didn't. Indeed, I have never seen in him a man who harbors ill feelings towards Greece and the Greek people. Of course, he has his opinion regarding the situation between you, the issue of the sea, but I won't get into that, because it's not up to me, but, as far as I know, the Turkish side has been asking to go to the International Court for a long time, right? That's it! We are pleased that the Greek side agreed to go to the International Court with us and I hope to go to the International Court with Turkey as well and the issue will be resolved by a third party, with which both sides agree. Otherwise, we will continue to be traitors among traitors, and this is not a good idea.
