" They avoided talking about Tirana's problems. What happens to investments and the leadership of Tirana? Is the Municipality of Tirana legitimate? The answer is no. If he does not appear for 3 months, he is proposed to be dismissed. He is proposed to the Council of Ministers by the Municipal Council, if he has not come to work for 3 months without interruption. The Council not only does not submit the proposal, it does not accept our request and says that they have reviewed it. They are afraid to say anything because they think that Rama may think otherwise ," he said.
According to Alimehmet, the head of government has taken control of all municipalities against the law and local autonomy.
" However, this SP is afraid to do this because local autonomy has fallen and the municipalities have all been taken over by the prime minister. How can the prime minister dismiss directors? The law does not allow it. Rama carried out his act against the law and against local autonomy. Good decisions like an eastern dictatorship. The law commands very clearly how directors are appointed ," he continued.
On A2 CNN, Alimehmeti said that Prime Minister Edi Rama has a dossier on the mayors and they dare not oppose it.
" Why doesn't Rama do it in writing? Because he has to write based on the law so and so. Where will Rama find it? He doesn't have it and he uses the thread of fear that he has files for each of them. There are threads that connect them and it is clear that if he says something, they don't dare, " said Alimehemti.
