"Education in Albania in the worst days", Xixho asks for

The MP of the Freedom Party, Erisa Xhixho, has announced that she has requested an interview with the Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu, as according to her, education in Albania is in its worst days.

Through a post on the social network "Facebook", Xixho emphasizes that education is in a national emergency and that this failure burdens the government and the Ministry of Education in a special way.

"Education is a national emergency, so I requested an urgent consultation with the Minister of Education. Time for accountability in front of citizens!

Education in Albania is in its worst days. Depopulation has closed schools and study branches in universities, while along with the number of pupils and students, the number of teachers is also falling.

The teaching professions are at risk, as the government's trick to support with scholarships the students who enroll in them will affect the further decline in enrollments at the beginning of the new academic year.

The results of the PISA tests a few months ago showed the failure of educational policies and the decline of student preparation to an unprecedented level. Albania ranks 62nd among the 80 countries examined by PISA. We are worse than in 2018, even worse than in 2015 and much worse than in 2012.

Education today is in a national emergency. This failure places responsibility on the government and the Ministry of Education in a special way.

Considering it necessary to take urgent measures to improve the quality of education and transparency with the citizens about the strategy that must be followed to rebuild education, I asked the Minister of Education, Mrs. Ogerta Manastirliu" , Xixho wrote.
