Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha spoke about the "Beleri" case, as he accused Prime Minister Rama that his arrest was made on Rama's order.
During an interview with the Greek media "SKY" , Berisha stated that the indictment against the elected mayor of Himara is fabricated and that the witness on whom the prosecution was based for attempted vote buying was paid 7,000 euros for his services and that for this he says he has evidence.
"I understood that it was an old police provocation against him. I later found clear evidence that senior police officers and an informant were involved. There is a secret fund for those who perform "special missions". This provocateur has collected money from this fund in violation of the law, a fee of 7,000 euros," said Berisha.
He also states that there is evidence that the amount given to the main witness against Fredi Beleri was paid by the secret funds of the Albanian police.
Berisha calls Beler a political prisoner and links his pursuit with Prime Minister Edi Rama's desire to control investments in Himare.
