The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has revealed the date of the next national protest.
"The next opposition protest will be on May 8. This government only knows how to steal and steal day and night and do things backwards. Prime Minister Edi Rama has only blocked justice and is not condemning the rampant corruption in the government. The terrible thefts of government officials are destroying the country. May 8 will be the day of the Albanians, of their strongest protest, I am confident that the strongest revolt against this bandit and thief regime will be given in this protest," said Berisha.
The last protest was held on April 17th.
After the April 17 protest, the Democratic Party filed criminal charges against the Minister of Interior, Besfort Lamallari, and the entire leadership chain of the State Police, headed by Skënder Hita.
The report was filed for the criminal offenses of "Other intentional damage", "Unlawful deprivation of liberty", "Forgery of documents", "Strikes due to duty", "Abuse of duty", "Committing arbitrary actions", etc.
Meanwhile, the State Police have arrested 11 people in flagrante delicto, following the Democratic Party protest held on Friday afternoon in the capital (April 17).
The Police also announced that 15 people have been criminally prosecuted, including 2 minors aged 16 and 17, for "Disturbing public peace".
MP Klevis Balliu has also been placed under investigation, accused of the criminal offense of "Organizing and participating in illegal gatherings and demonstrations."
According to the Police, 5 officers were injured during the rally, who received treatment in hospital and are out of danger.
During the protest, 45 Molotov cocktails were seized, prepared by protesters to continue attacks on state institutions and law enforcement officers.
The Democratic Party protest in Tirana was accompanied by tensions and acts of violence. After the speech of the Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, protesters threw Molotov cocktails and fireworks towards the Prime Minister's Office, causing clashes with the State Police. The security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd, while the situation then moved to the Parliament.
As a result of the clashes, four people were injured, including a police officer and three protesters, including MP Luçiano Boçi and activist Aulon Kalaja. They were transported to the Trauma Hospital and their condition was reported to be stable.
