Democratic Party MP Blendi Himçi says that the removal of the "non-women" clause for the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, will happen very soon.
Himçi expressed his conviction that there will soon be concrete developments regarding this issue, describing the imposition of sanctions as a deliberate action to hit the Albanian opposition.
"Of course, we are close to removing the non-woman's name for our opposition leader. Of course, with the removal of the non-woman's name, the fact will be proven once again how the government has operated, in cooperation with functional non-profit organizations in Albania, such as the Soros Foundation, to deliberately impose the non-woman's name, to denigrate the opposition in the worst possible way and to hit its leader, Prof. Dr. Sali Berisha. We are waiting. Of course, I guarantee you that there will be very good news and very soon, Bes. It is not a matter of fake news, but it is a true thing that we will share this good news together very soon," the MP told Klan News.
Asked if there is a document on this issue, the MP said he cannot yet provide details as he has limited information.
"No, no, there are quite a few further steps in this regard regarding the method, the removal of the woman's name for our historical leader. You will undoubtedly see it, I cannot give you more details, because even my information is limited," said Blendi Himçi.
The US blacklisted Sali Berisha and his family members in 2021, and the announcement was made at the time by former Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
In a message on Twitter, Antony Blinken wrote that Berisha and his family have been officially declared ineligible to enter the US and are therefore prohibited from entering the country.
"The corrupt acts of former Albanian President Sali Berisha undermine democracy in Albania. I am publicly declaring Sali Berisha and members of his family ineligible to enter the United States. We continue to stand against corruption together with our partners in Albania," Blinken said.
