The former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj seems not to find peace after the new developments of SPAK. Two new lines of investigation have been opened against him, that of favors to pharmaceutical companies and that of abuses of EU funds.
Beqaj reacted today from the door of SPAK where he tried to justify himself, but this was not enough. A little while ago, he came out with a statement to the media where he tries to justify himself again.
Beqaj's reaction
Starting from the great misunderstandings created through various sources of information, I find it necessary to inform the public opinion that:
1. Saspac does not manage funds, does not make tenders and does not carry out decision-making processes, but only coordinates programs with foreign financing as a function of the government. Its work as an agency has only to do with the coordination of government policies with donations from abroad.
2. Regarding the accusations related to pharmaceutical companies, I would like to declare that either from the position as Minister of Health, or later in my public duties, I have not had and do not have any economic and/or financial interests anymore. none of these companies or their owners.
3. Meanwhile, I am continuing my confrontation with the justice authorities regarding the issue of sterilization and I am glad to say that (if subjective interpretations are not considered evidence) I have not yet come across any proof of my alleged guilt. I myself know that such evidence does not exist and that project is one of the best decisions that have been made in health, but of course I am also an interested party, so my innocence is only in the hands of the court. I remain available to investigative bodies for any unclear aspect that requires verification.
