Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, during a conversation with his followers on social media, focused on the protests, emphasizing that peaceful uprising is the opposition's choice. Berisha declared that the protests will continue until Edi Rama is overthrown.
"Our red line is the protest until the overthrow of Edi Rama. Tiring, exhausting, arduous, but this is what we have chosen. Our red line as a protest, until the overthrow of Edi Rama is vital not only for Albania, not only for the Democratic Party but also for Albania, to have an opposition with a strong voice. Those who are upset by the protest of the Democratic Party are mistaken, if they are opponents of the regime. They are very mistaken. The protest of the Democratic Party is the voice of those citizens who dare to take to the streets. For what issues? They take to the streets for issues that are equally devastating for every honest citizen of this country, regardless of political beliefs ," said Berisha.
He continued by stating that Albania today is an authoritarian dictatorship.
"We are an authoritarian dictatorship that differs from totalitarian dictatorships, because this one accepts pluralism. But this one suppresses pluralism. Those who have a doubt about this, let me ask you the question together. In which regime are opposition leaders arrested as persons under investigation during the election year? Can you realize what this means? In which regime? During the election year are opposition leaders arrested as persons under investigation. What is the purpose of this, of this arrest?
His goal is one and only one, to rob the elections at any cost. In which regime are drug cartels used to determine the results of the elections, as they determined in Durrës, as they determined in Elbasan, as they determined in Vlora, Fier and a series of other cities. When you think, don't forget that these cartels manage billions, not hundreds of millions, billions of euros. And they have only one task in political cooperation, elections, guaranteeing victory", said Berisha.
