The government has approved two of the three names it must present to the Assembly for the vacant positions on the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania. The names approved in today's government meeting are Ervin Mete, former Minister of Finance, and Jonida Prifti.
The names are forwarded to the Parliament for approval, while vacancies have been created in 6 positions in the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania.
Of these, 3 belong to the Assembly, which has also begun hearings with the candidates, while the Government must propose the other 3 candidates, two of which were approved today.
"In accordance with Article 100 of the Constitution and letter "b", point 2, Article 44, of Law No. 8269, dated 23.12.1997, "On the Bank of Albania", as amended, upon the proposal of the Prime Minister, the Council of Ministers decided:
The proposal to the Assembly of the Republic of Albania of two members for the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania, as follows:
– Mrs. Jonida Prifti;
– Mr. Ervin Mete.
This decision enters into force immediately and is published in the "Official Gazette" , the Government decision states.
The current members of the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania whose mandate has ended are: Luljeta Minxhozi, member and first deputy governor, Suela Popa, Edlira Luçi, Ridvan Bode, Artan Hoxha and Violeta Staka. They were appointed in 2018. At least 3 of the current members are seeking another mandate, targeting the vacancies determined by the Assembly.
In the Assembly, the candidates for the 3 vacancies in the Supervisory Council of the Bank of Albania are: Adela Karapici, Saimir Mucmataj, Arben Zibri, Matilda Shehu, Eni Xheko, Emis Cerava, Erjona Bejleri, Fatmira Kola, Aleksandër Cavo, Artan Hoxha, Elton Korbi, Holta Zaçaj, Ingrid Konomi, Liljana Mamadhaj, Luljeta Minxhozi, Merita Bejtja, Pajtim Melani, Selami Xhepa and Violeta Staka.
