"Corruption and state capture, the main problem", Arben Malaj: Rama
Former Minister of Finance Arben Malaj

Former Finance Minister Arben Malaj, speaking about the Prime Minister's clash with the judges, said that Rama does not respect the separation of powers in every one of his appearances. He added that Albania's problem is corruption and state capture.

"He didn't flinch when he put Albania in debt of 130 million euros for Becheti. And Rama's words when he focuses on those 30 million don't have that impact because those holes he has created are more serious. The fact that the prime minister comes out and only speaks means that "the devil is in the details". We need to understand which was the pyramid, which is the pyramid and the new one... Inequality has become very worrying. So simple explanations are needed and I maintain the assessment that the government has the right to make the salary pyramid but it has no right to put pressure on justice by deforming this pyramid. Rama in every public case does not respect the separation of powers, but says the power is me" , he said in an interview for "News 24".

Malaj also spoke about the economic situation, saying that despite the reforms, there are also serious warnings.

"Even in Parliament, he always provokes. For the economy, I can say that reforms have been made, but it's not like there aren't serious warnings. So if you no longer respect internationals, and the moment you don't listen to the EU and the US, or the IMF telling you to be careful on these points, it's a kind of complacency that could turn into a crisis tomorrow. If you want to govern, I'm the king, it's bad news for Albania. Since there are many people who are making fun of you, someone needs to tell you the truth," he said.
