But who are the sheikhs of Lalez?
Two well-known names are Sali Berisha and Ilir Meta. As for Berisha, the villa appears in the name of his daughter, Argita Berisha. Details on the construction of this villa were given in the statement made to the ILDKP.
" Mrs. Argita Malltezi, owner with a 50% taxable share of a half-villa in Lalëz with a construction value of 56,000 Euros and land purchase worth 908,176 Lek, purchased in 2004 according to the ownership certificate dated 23.05.2013. (The building was purchased according to the sales contract on 29.04.2013, while the land was purchased by ALUIZNI according to the sales contract dated 05.04.2013. According to the purchase contract, the value of the building is 50,000 Euros, but payments were made for additional works with Mandate Payment); Argita Malltezi, owner with a 50% taxable share of a residential building in Lalëz worth 155,000 Euros, purchased through a sales contract dated 13.07.2021. The property was purchased with the funds of Mr. Jamarbër Malltezi's husband ," the statement says. As part of the investigations that SPAK has launched, the villa has been seized. So the only good action so far, but it remains to be seen until the end what will be its fate.
As for Ilir Meta, the villa was bought in 2010. It is a two-story apartment with an area of 317 square meters. The value of this villa has never been declared. The presidential couple has stated that they have given in exchange 300 square meters of commercial premises of the palace in Laprakë in exchange for it.
Another well-known name is SPAK prosecutor Arben Kraja. Although he is seen as the man who should investigate those who have villas in Lalëz, he has one himself. " The amount of 72,000 Euros was liquidated for the year 2018, the value of 10,000 Euros on 19.09.2018 and the value of 62,000 Euros on 21.12.2018, and the balance of the obligation towards the company in the amount of 43,000 Euros remained ," Kraja said in the statement to the ILDKP.
Another name that has declared the villa is the former Minister of the Interior, Sandër Lleshaj. Lleshaj owns a duplex apartment with an area of 120 m2, in a two-story building with a total area of 480 m2.
The former Minister of Education, Myqerem Tafaj, also owns the villa. He stated that in 2009 he bought a villa in Lalëz with an area of 79 m2, with a value of 35 thousand euros.
Another politician who has officially declared the villa is Florion Mima, former Minister of Economy of the "Berisha" government. In 2015, he declared in the ILDKP that he was paying off a villa in Lalëz.
There are two former LSI ministers who are said to have villas in Lalëz, but there is no official statement. They are Petrit Vasili, former Minister of Justice and Edmond Haxhinasto, former Minister of Transport. Even Arben Ristani was vacationing in Lalëz and even fell prey to a robbery at a villa where his family lived.
Another name is the Minister of Finance, Ervin Mete. In 2007, he declared the purchase of a plot of land of 500 square meters, but no information is given if the property has been developed with construction. While in 2013 he declared 3 thousand meters of land in Biza, near Lalez.
It is also said that the former head of the Guard, Ndrea Prendi, and a large number of analysts that we see every day on television have a villa. There is also no doubt that a large number of crime bosses have villas there, as well as many MPs.
