Former SP MP Xhemal Qefalia was asked if he will enter parliament, as Ogerta Manastirliu is already a candidate for mayor of Tirana.
Qefalia said that he received nearly 10,000 votes in the May 11 elections, adding that the verdict will be made by the CEC. According to him, it does not matter who gets the mandate, but what is important is Albania's integration into the European Union.
" The first sessions in parliament are routine. I wish the new deputies success in their work. Regarding the candidacy of Ogerta Manastirliu, she is a worthy representative of Tirana, she has shown that she is competent and capable in the management of the important institutions she has led.
"Tirana needs to have a speaker. If I will take the seat in parliament, this is determined by the CEC. I received almost 10 thousand votes. I believe that the KAS will give the verdict. There is no big difference whether it will be me or someone else in the Assembly. The seat of a deputy is not very important, but the primary objective: the integration of Albania into the EU ," he said.
