The head of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, commented on the court's decision regarding the sentence of the former FBI official, McGonigal, who was sentenced to 28 months in prison.
He accused Prime Minister Rama of the slander he made on his behalf, as he said that it is unprecedented in the history of Albania and in the history of democratic countries, that the prime minister of the country bribes the head of the FBI to attack the leader of the opposition.
During the conference, Basha also stated that McGonigal's conviction by the Washington Federal Court highlighted Edi Rama's immoral fight against the Albanian opposition and especially against him as a leader.
The head of the DP accused that "McGonigal's hands are also in the affair of the incinerators". He said that in the following days they will make public other details, while once again emphasizing the lawsuit announced in SPAK for Prime Minister Rama.
"McGonigal's hands are also in the incinerator affair. In the following days, we will present Mcgonigal's connections with the incinerators affair, with first and last name, all of which we will file in SPAK, alongside the reported report for Rama's involvement in the incinerators affair," said Basha.
Lulzim Basha's statement:
Today I am in front of you to communicate about an unprecedented case in the history of Albania and in the history of democratic countries where the prime minister of the country bribes the head of the FBI to attack the leader of the opposition.
Such a story has not been heard even in dictatorial countries where the political opponent is seen as an enemy. It has never happened that a prime minister bribes the chief of counter-intelligence of a friend, ally and strategic partner country with the sole purpose of hitting and damaging his political opponent, in this case Lulzim Basha and PD.
Many friends, well-wishers and supporters have expressed surprise to the point of frustration as to why Lulzim Basha does not speak.
This is despite the fact that since the first day I have said that everything is a dirty story.
But to be honest, then it never occurred to me how far this scenario would go, that the prime minister of my country would carry out such a criminal operation against the leader of the opposition and DP.
There were also those for whom I feel sorry for joining Edi Rama in the mire of deceptions, lies and accusations on this matter. I have ignored them and pitied them, calm and firm in my awareness that at no time did DP and I engage in anything illegal, much less connected to the monstrous libels produced.
They filled the media, and even sent letters around the world in the hope that they would harm PD and Lulzim Basha. For these I have only regret. The shame is theirs and the Albanians and especially the democrats will never forget this shame.
Kam pritur me qetësi, durim dhe besim që ndonëse e vërteta e kësaj ceshtje do merrte kohë ajo do të zbardhej. Por kam qenë i sigurtë që pas shpifjeve dhe sulmeve të ulëta fshiheshin duar të pista.
E kam patur këtë bindje para se të dilte në shesh e vërteta e plotë përmes aferës McGonigal. Por sërish kam pritur të thotë fjalën e saj drejtësia amerikane, për të mos u krijuar asnjë alibi justifikimi nëpër banaqet mediatike të financuara me para krimi e korrupsioni nga ku mbushnin dynjanë me baltën e përnatshme.
Drejtësia amerikane foli. McGonigal pranoi të gjithë operacionin e pisët kundër Lulzim Bashes dhe PD. Dhe dje mori dënimin prej 2 vitesh e 4 muaj burg për rolin e tij në këtë aferë që ka tronditur jo pak edhe opinion publik dhe agjensitë e ligjzbatimit dhe të zbulimit.
Drejtësia anerikane ka zbardhur në detaje gjithë operacionin kriminal që dirigjohej nga zyra e Edi Rames, ushqyer dhe mbështetur edhe nga disa gjoja opozitarë që sot shesin moral.
Dënimi i ish-agjentit të FBI, Charles McGonigal, nga Gjykata Federale e Washingtonit nxori në pah luftën e paprinciptë dhe të pamoral të Edi Ramës ndaj opozitës shqiptare dhe veçanërisht ndaj meje si drejtues i saj.
Ai nuk u mjaftua vetëm me përfshirjen e krimit të organizuar në zgjedhje, me shitblerjen e votës, me kriminalizimin e shtetit, me përdorimin e aseteve publike dhe privatizimin e shtetit për mbledhje votash, por korruptoi edhe zyrtarin e lartë të FBI vetëm e vetëm për të goditur Lulzim Bashën, PD, opozitën dhe për të penguar rotacionin politik vend.
Kjo nuk eshte një ngjarje e vetme dhe as e izoluar. Është pjese e një fushate të ndërtuar, financuar dhe zbatuar nga kryeministri i vendit pëmes një lufte me mjete të ndyra kundër kreut të opozitës dhe rivalit për kryeministër.
Ju të gjithë i mbani mend investigimet mediatike të 2021 të cilat zbuluan para shqiptarëve se Edi Ramës nuk i mjaftoi vetëm operacioni kriminal i manipulimit dhe diktimit të votave, por kishte paguar për mbi 50 milionë mesazhe denigruese kundër meje neper rrjetet sociale.
Që nga 2005 ku i jam bashkuar politikës kam qenë njeriu më i sulmuar dhe për fat të keq jo vetëm nga kundërshtari politik. Por gjithmonë kam besuar se e vërteta sado të zhytet, kurrë nuk do të mbytet.
Dhe ja ku jemi sot, gjithçka ka dalë në dritën e diellit. Gjithë balta, llumi shpifjet dhe mashtrimet u janë kthyer dhe përplasur në fytyrë autorëve të këtij operacioni kriminal.
Por pas një investigimi bazuar në fakte dhe prova është zbuluar edhe një e vërtetë tjetër kriminale. Duart e McGonigal gjenden edhe në aferën e inceneratorëve.
Pagesat dhe shpërblimet ndaj tij janë shumë herë me shumë se sa kanë dalë në publik. Prandaj kjo çështje nuk do të mbyllet me kaq. Në ditët në vijim do të paraqesim në detaje të gjitha lidhjet e aferës McGonigal me aferën e inceneratorëve.

Yesterday the American justice spoke, McGonigal accepted the whole dirty operation against Lulzim Bashes and PD and was sentenced to 2 years and 4 months in prison for his role in this affair.
One hopes that this is the cap on this chilling story of corruption and compromise at the highest levels. I'm here today to tell you, don't lie to yourself. This is only the beginning of the discovery of the chain of terrible corruption affairs.
No matter how long it takes, 8 days, eight weeks, eight months or eight years, the truth will be revealed and no one will be able to escape responsibility. Finally, I turn to you again to friends, supporters and especially Democrats.
Although all this time I have been calm in my conscience as I was aware of the falsity and wickedness of the dirty campaign undertaken, I have been tormented by the feeling of pity for the democrats and Albanians who have been hurt by these attacks. I am forever grateful to them for standing with me for this truth.
The fight for truth is the hardest, but every chapter of human society's success is marked by its triumph over falsehood. The same will happen with Albania.
