Ilir Meta, the leader of the PL, who has been in prison since October 2024 by decision of the GJKKO and request of SPAK, has reacted through a public statement, attacking the Special Prosecution Office and the Court, which rejected requests for his release from the measure of 'prison arrest'.
Meta describes the decision not to release him from security custody as a "public deception," built on the claim that releasing him as party leader could intimidate witnesses in the case.
According to Meta, this argument is untrue, as the witnesses mentioned by SPAK are not members of the Freedom Party.
"I emphasize that apart from Petrit Vasili, none of the SPAK witnesses is a member of the Freedom Party today," Meta wrote in his reaction.

It would not be worth it to publicly deal with Erjon Çela, who, although he is paid as a judge, is only acting as a SPAK notary for the third time, against me but also against the due process of law that he must guarantee as a judge.
But I cannot remain silent in the face of a brazen deception to write from him, according to the dictates of "Afërmendsh" (Altin Dumani), precisely the alibi that my release due to my function as President of the Freedom Party could lead to the intimidation of alleged witnesses, who are members of the Freedom Party.
I emphasize that apart from Mr. Petrit Vasili, none of the SPAK witnesses is a member of the Freedom Party today.

We will maintain confidentiality until the preliminary hearing of the trial and then we will make public all the deceptions of "Afermendsh" and all the regime's creatures, which are supposedly "living evidence" but which in fact have nothing against Ilir Meta.
While the regime's deceitful creatures will be on trial every day by public opinion for their deceptions and the problems they have with the law and the truth.
These alleged "living evidence" of "Afermendshi" will be the real proof of the judicial farce of the century: zero evidence, zero criminal facts and zero witnesses against Ilir Meta.
The Freedom Party must escalate the denunciation of Edi Rama's blatant corruption affairs and his main affair: The Capture of Justice.
