As the majority alone approved the amendment of the Rules of the Parliament, former Prime Minister Sali Berisha said after the meeting of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party that this was the penultimate step for the annihilation of the opposition.
"The amendment of the regulation of the Parliament, according to which a group of deputies allow themselves the temporary interruption of the mandate of the deputy, the exclusion for two months and the de facto removal of the mandate. This is the pre-final stage towards the annihilation of the opposition in the Parliament and I guarantee you that this will be accompanied by all the efforts of the opposition to restore pluralism in the Parliament", said Berisha.
Asked if the parliamentary group had discussed SPAK's request for another security measure for him, Berisha said that "everyone is in unison that this decision is based on a previous unconstitutional decision by Skapi and the judge dismissed by Sali Berisha in 1996".
He also said that he had not yet been notified by the Assembly and that he would read the official decision.
"I am sure that the Presidency will send me the report. The basis of this attitude is my proposal in 2012", said Berisha.
