Prime Minister Rama has spoken about the virtual minister created with Artificial Intelligence, called Diella. Invited to an interview on "Times Radio", Rama was asked specifically about the new minister in his cabinet.
"First I want to know are you or an AI version of you? Prime Minister, why this decision for a minister with Artificial Intelligence ," the journalist asked humorously.
Rama said that I am responsible for this artificial version, while adding that new technology and now AI are a blessing for countries like us that have come a long way.
“First of all, you can't know if it's me or my artificial version (laughs)…. but as long as the Prime Minister of Albania is talking to you through the official channel, then it's my responsibility.
We have decided to take this big step because we want to push our reforms forward more quickly and it is not only necessary for reforms in digital terms, but in terms of modernization and as I have always said, new technology and now AI are a blessing for countries like us that come from a long way.
"In the era of linear progress, we would have had an even more difficult time regaining the time lost over decades and centuries," Rama said.
Asked if Diella poses a risk and how it will work, Rama said that artificial intelligence is helping Albania join the EU. He added that an AI minister will advance a reform better and faster than a physical minister.
“The sun is the sun that never sets, it never sleeps, it doesn't need to be paid so it has no private interests, it has no cousins, and cousins in Albania are a big problem… it also can't change its mind and it doesn't care if they fire it.
"Joke aside, she has extraordinary leadership strength and it is very difficult for a non-AI minister to advance a reform as well and quickly as an AI minister," the head of government said.
He further confirmed to the journalist that artificial intelligence is helping Albania join the European Union, citing as an example how the translation of group chapters is being done in record time.
