A provocative statement by Prime Minister Edi Rama, according to which Greeks are not descendants of Aristotle, has caused reactions in official Athens, but not only.
Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis is the latest official to react to Prime Minister Edi Rama.
" Mr. Rama, unfortunately, has a serious psychological problem with Greece. Maybe when he came to Greece as an illegal immigrant as a poor painter, when the Hoxha regime had fallen, someone did not treat him well."
"In this sense, he has our understanding ," Minister Georgiadis told Greek media outlet Newsbomb.
He then added, "let's leave history to the historians. Let Rama deal more with the history of Albania, starting with Skanderbeg, and let him leave Aristotle and Alexander the Great alone."
Rama reacted harshly to a Greek-American journalist, John Defterios, when he mispronounced his name.
“You are not a descendant of Plato and Aristotle as you think,” Rama said, addressing Defterio. The journalist then tried to calm the atmosphere, referring to an investment of approximately 1 billion in Albania, however, Rama insisted, saying “it is over a billion.”
" You do your math like the Greeks. When you talk about your own money, you add three zeros. When you talk about other people's money, you subtract three zeros. That's what you do. That's why the European Union loves you so much ," the Prime Minister replied.
