"OSCE/ODIHR certified May 11 as a farce", Bardhi: Parliament and

The Chairman of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has emphasized that the final OSCE/ODIHR report proves that the May 11 parliamentary elections were a complete electoral farce.

According to him, the most flagrant example of this farce is the Fier region.

"Free and fair elections are the source of the democratic legitimacy of the Parliament and the Government. The OSCE/ODIHR final report proves that the elections were neither free nor fair, and consequently they were unable to produce legitimate institutions."

"Nothing good can come from an illegitimate Parliament and Government, therefore it is our duty now, the Democratic Party, the opposition, civil society, the free media, honest citizens, to make every effort, every sacrifice, every battle for the removal of the most illegitimate Government in 30 years, one hour earlier, and make political rotation possible through free and fair elections," Bardhi wrote in a post on social media.

Reaction from Gazment Bardhi

The OSCE/ODIHR final report unequivocally states that the May 11 parliamentary elections were a complete electoral farce. International observers confirm that "The ruling party benefited from the extensive use of administrative resources and institutional influence, blurring the line between state and party. There were allegations of pressure on public officials, cases of intimidation of opposition supporters, and misuse of patronage networks, which do not comply with international standards. Other issues of concern included reports of vote-buying, attempts to unfairly influence vulnerable voters, and the influence of criminal elements in the elections in some areas of the country."

The most flagrant example of the May 11 electoral farce is the Fier region and the political leader of the Socialist Party, Belinda Balluku, who is brought up in the report on many occasions to illustrate the serious violations of democratic election standards.

International observers note that "The highest number of public events was recorded in the municipalities of the Fier region, where Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku was the political leader of the Socialist Party. There were allegations and first-hand reports from municipal employees that they were pressured by their superiors to participate in electoral activities of the Socialist Party in Fier. There were allegations of pressure on public sector employees to provide information about their family members or friends living abroad in Fier. There were first-hand reports of threats in Fier. There were also allegations that various voters were prevented from participating in activities of opposition parties for fear of punishment. Furthermore, allegations of intimidation of voters by the Police in Fier have been reported."

Belinda Balluku and her electoral gang used state resources, public administration, State Police and criminal groups to intimidate, threaten and frighten with the aim of alienating the will of the citizens of Fier inside and outside the country. The final report of the OSCE/ODIHR is also a strong slap in the face to the SPAK-CEC-General Prosecutor's Office task force, which failed to ascertain the serious violations of the law by Belinda Balluku and her electoral gang, which were seen with the naked eye by international observers and anyone who was not blinded by the black shadow of corruption and organized crime that Belinda Balluku brings with her wherever she goes.

Free and fair elections are the source of the democratic legitimacy of the Parliament and the Government. The final report of the OSCE/ODIHR proves that the elections were neither free nor fair, and consequently they could not produce legitimate institutions. Nothing good can come from an illegitimate Parliament and Government, therefore it is our duty now, the Democratic Party, the opposition, civil society, the free media, honest citizens to make every effort, every sacrifice, every battle for the early removal of the most illegitimate Government in 30 years and make political rotation possible through free and fair elections.
