Democratic MP Jorida Tabaku considers the money laundering amnesty the entry into force of the "Fiscal Peace".
Tabaku describes the law as a fiscal amnesty, warning that it legalizes and formalizes money laundering in Albania, at a time when the phenomenon has been documented for years by international reports, especially in sectors such as construction, gambling, and tourism.
According to her, the problem with the law does not lie only in the past, but in the consequences for the future: it creates incentives for the informal economy, sends the message that tax evasion is rewarded, and severely undermines fair competition.
Tabaku emphasizes that the law is deeply unfair to businesses that have paid taxes for years, or that have closed because they could not afford their fiscal obligations.
Meanwhile, today those who have operated illegally are given the opportunity to legalize their businesses.
"Albania cannot become a country where dirty money finds legal shelter," Tabaku underlines, describing this law as one of the most serious risks to the formal economy and public trust.
