After almost a week of escalating conflict in Iran and rising tensions in the Middle East, Albanian authorities seem to have finally decided to focus on the security of Albanian citizens in the region.
The reaction of Albanian institutions comes a few days after the start of the conflict, at a time when several countries in the region and the European Union have been activating emergency mechanisms for their citizens for days.
Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ferit Hoxha, who began the first day of his new duties, held a meeting with the special staff established in the ministry, attended by leaders of the institution and Albanian ambassadors to Middle Eastern countries.
In a reaction on the social network X, Hoxha stressed that the security and well-being of Albanian citizens remain "absolute priorities" for Albanian diplomacy. He announced that diplomatic missions are in contact with Albanian citizens to provide them with information, advice and assistance.
"The Foreign Service structures, in cooperation with other institutions, are fully prepared to take any necessary measures depending on developments in the affected countries and to respond appropriately to any situation ," the minister emphasized.
