Earlier it was reported that the Democrats requested an investigation of Jared Kushner regarding his investment projects in Sazan and Belgrade. Top Democrat Jamie Raskin and Congressman Robert Garcia sent a letter to the House Oversight Committee Chairman to allow a congressional investigation into Kushner, signaling that Democrats are likely to target Kushner if they retake the House. Comer told Fox News Digital on Wednesday that Kushner's business was "legitimate," adding that the Democrats' request is made to protect Joe Biden's son. " Unlike the Bidens, Jared Kushner has a legitimate business and has a career as a business executive that predates Donald Trump's political career ," Comer said.
" The Democrats' latest letter is part of their playbook to shield President Biden from investigation. The House Oversight Committee will continue to investigate President Biden's abuse of public office and hold the Bidens accountable for corruption theirs ," he added.
Jamie Raskin and Robert Garcia, in their letter to Comer, stated: " This Committee cannot claim to be 'investigating efforts by foreign nationals' to bribe senior US officials by offering money or other benefits in exchange for actions certain' while you continue to ignore the Kushner case. Therefore, we urge you to work with us to definitively investigate Mr. Kushner's receipt of billions of dollars from foreign governments ."
They also accused Comer of "allowing Mr. Kushner to ignore and repeatedly oppose these requests," citing repeated calls by Democrats to subpoena Kushner and his company officials for a hearing.
At the heart of Raskin and Garcia's latest letter is a New York Times report alleging that Kushner is in the final stages of major real estate deals in Albania and Serbia.
