Today's parliamentary session began with tension and debate between the opposition and the majority. The Balluku issue was at the center of the clash, with accusations from the opposition for procrastination and a response from the Assembly leadership for strict adherence to the rules of procedure.
The Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, responded to the accusations of the head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, who claimed that the Assembly is becoming an obstacle to the consideration of the SPAK request.
Peleshi described Bardhi's speech as pathetic and explained that the procedure is being followed according to the provisions of the Assembly's Rules of Procedure, emphasizing that they are within the established deadlines.
"Read the Rules of Procedure before making pathetic speeches. You have never contested the interpretation that the Speaker of the Assembly makes of the Rules of Procedure, it does not take intelligence. No article of the Rules of Procedure has been violated, we are within all deadlines. The Mandates Council will meet on Monday after the rights of all parties have been respected. We are not a decision-making body, but an advisory one. If you want to bring the Assembly into an abnormal state, my job is to keep it normal," Peleshi declared from the podium.
Bardhi accused the Speaker of the Assembly of using procedures to delay the handling of the Special Prosecution's request to lift Balluk's immunity. According to him, any postponement constitutes an obstacle to justice and damages trust in the process.
