Prime Minister Edi Rama, in a speech to the deputies in the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, said that it seems that there is no clear idea about fulfilling all the criteria in relation to fulfilling our objective for membership in the European Union.
They are negotiating interim periods in the accession process. "The interim phase is part of the accession mechanism, a model that was also followed by Croatia," Rama said.
In this context, he said that the aim will be to gain an intermediate phase of 5 years to meet EU criteria in food safety, which in the current conditions is unintegrable.
He said that the day will not be far off when, within the framework of food safety, products will be blocked in Albania, because they do not meet EU criteria.
"Trying to make a summary of the work and challenges that the new group has encountered in the previous session, which was also the first session of this legislature, and on the other hand to establish some common milestones in the conditions when the work we have ahead is very special due to Albania's entry into the intensive phase of negotiations with the EU and due to the necessity that in a short period of 2 years Albania fulfills all the conditions to close the membership negotiations, as is clear from the plan we have on the table", said Rama.
