Since Nikos was elected as Speaker of the Assembly, there have been rumors in the corridors of the Socialist Party that his mandate will be short. According to sources, the shake-up is planned for the beginning of 2026 and will bring Taulant Balla, one of Edi Rama's most loyal men, to the head of the Assembly.
This change is seen as part of the "war phase" that the prime minister has announced for the period after the end of the year, with the aim of launching major legal and constitutional reforms. Sources from the socialist group confirm that Rama considers Pelesh "the man of the peace period", while Balla is the figure who should lead the future clashes in Parliament.
Rama's plans include a review of the territorial division, a new electoral law, and a possible constitutional amendment to elect the President by popular vote. Damian Gjiknuri and Oerd Bylykbashi are working on the details of these changes, which are expected to be included in the Assembly's calendar within the next year.
