The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, received today in a meeting the Vice President of Turkey, Cevdet Yılmaz. The conversation between them focused on the excellent relations between our two countries, the advancement of initiatives that deepen this cooperation, as well as regional developments and security issues.
During this meeting, President Begaj praised the excellent and friendly relations with Turkey, confirming Albania's commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership.
While bilateral relations have marked a very positive balance, the meeting confirmed the position to maintain the current trend in terms of political dialogue and to further deepen bilateral economic-trade cooperation, investment, security and stability.
"Albania," emphasized President Begaj, "values the role of Turkey as a key partner and ally and assessed that there is always room for deepening bilateral cooperation in areas such as: economy and trade, agriculture, investments, infrastructure, tourism, environment and other essential issues. During the conversation, regional cooperation with Turkey within the framework of regional initiatives, such as: Black Sea Economic Cooperation and the South East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), was also emphasized.
The Head of State conveyed to the number two of the Republic of Turkey his appreciation for the role and contribution of official Ankara and in particular of President Erdogan in the Western Balkans for peace and stability, as well as the commitment to continue this cooperation for the future of the region. Regarding Kosovo, the President of the Republic appreciated Turkey's strong lobbying for its recognition and membership in regional and global organizations. The meeting also appreciated the efforts of Turkey and President Erdogan in promoting dialogue as an opportunity for peace and fostering common and widely accepted understanding, both in the Russia-Ukraine war and in the conflict in the Middle East.
