Democratic Party MP and candidate on Tirana's open list for the May 11 elections, Dhurata Çupi, has accused the Rama government of continuous propaganda and attempts to distort reality during the electoral campaign.
Ćupi harshly criticized the prime minister's promise of EU membership, calling it unfounded and simply a propaganda tool.
"You cannot be part of the EU without water, without electricity, without infrastructure and with extreme poverty and misgovernance. The EU Charter has been one of Edi Rama's propaganda because he has nothing else to say," Çupi told "News 24".
She recalled Rama's unfulfilled promises from 2013, while adding that problems still remain for Albanian citizens.
"He said there would be 24-hour water and that legalizations would be completed in a year. Today, these are still among the biggest problems for citizens and for the guarantee of property ," the MP continued.
Ćupi also denounced violations of the Electoral Code, emphasizing that the campaign is being conducted in a disguised manner by the government.
"The Electoral Code prohibits government propaganda with investments during the campaign, but every day we see Rama and ministers 'inspecting' projects and selling them as achievements. This is a clear abuse of the Code ," she said.
Asked about her stance on SPAK's actions in the context of the elections, Çupi expressed optimism.
"I am inclined to believe in the SPAK Task Force on elections and electoral crime. I believe that it will have a positive effect in preventing the deformation of the will of the voters ," concluded the DP MP.
