The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted after the recent police actions against call center networks in Albania, describing the country as one of the main centers of international fraud against foreign citizens.

In a post on social media, Berisha stated that the spread of these structures in the country is not accidental and that, according to him, it is related to political support.

" Albania has become the epicenter of the extortion of billions of euros from pensioners from different countries of the world. The spread of these looting offices like mushrooms everywhere in Albania has only one reason: their connection with Olsi Rama ," Berisha says.

His statements come at a time when Europol and Eurojust have published details of the operation carried out on April 13 in Tirana, where a large network of call centers involved in financial fraud against European citizens was hit.

As part of this operation, Albanian authorities have issued security measures of "prison arrest" for 7 people, while for 2 citizens a measure of "ban on leaving the country" and "obligation to appear" has been imposed. In addition, 5 people have been arrested in flagrante delicto while carrying out illegal activity.

According to the investigation, victims were lured through fake investment advertisements on social media and online platforms that appeared to be trustworthy. After registering, they were contacted by people posing as financial advisors who then gained remote access to their accounts.

Through psychological pressure, victims were encouraged to invest increasingly larger amounts, while the funds were not actually invested, but transferred to an international money laundering network.

According to Europol, these call centers operated as structures organized similarly to legitimate companies, with employees divided into different languages ​​such as German, English, Italian, Greek and Spanish, to increase the trust of victims.
