The Coordinator of Democratic Persuasion, Fabian Topollaj, said that the return of Bashka reduces even more the stamp of DP because according to him, the official DP would have to gather those people who are opposition and do not vote for Berisha and Meta.
He emphasized that in a country with normal politics, his return would be considered a big surprise. According to Topollaj, for years Basha has reaped a series of defeats against the current majority.
"In a normal country, in a normal policy, this would be a big surprise. Basha has led the country's opposition for years, he has reaped endless failures and at a moment when we thought that Basha had closed his cycle, he is not only coming back to us, but he is coming back in triumphant form. This is not surprising in Albanian politics. This is to bring to the end a theater and a big problem that has been happening in the bosom of the main opposition force for years and for them to show it in the most demonstrative form possible. The main problem the opposition has had is precisely that it did not aim to defeat the majority but embodied personal interests. Basha doesn't bring anything, it reduces the stamp PD even more, because the official PD would have to gather those people who are opposition, who don't vote for Berisha and Meta", he said to 'Abc News'.
Topallaj also said that the only beneficiary of Basha's return is former Prime Minister Berisha. The Coordinator of Democratic Persuasion added that the main problem of the opposition has been not offering a strategy to defeat the party in power.
"The first favor that Berisha receives is that the pressure on him falls. Today, the people who ask him to leave are less than they should be, because on the other hand, a person is coming who must leave and should not think about returning. It seems clear that they have taken the opposition hostage.
The main problem that the opposition has had in Albania is precisely that the DP did not offer a different model of doing politics than the current government, but being the main force of the opposition, it did not let the opposition open, it was a rotten thing, only for not to leave the healthy part of the opposition to hatch and defeat the majority. The two pieces of DP are rotten and exist to keep their respective leaders," he added.
