Edi Rama's meeting with the Socialist Party's MPs and campaign leaders in Tirana was not a "working consultation" as presented in the media, but a strategic meeting to maintain Rama's absolute control over the capital's campaign.
Sources from the meeting claim that Rama gave direct instructions, closed the discussion on the involvement of Erion Veliaj's structures and expressed his determination to publicly defend Belinda Balluku in the face of SPAK's accusations.
In the meeting that the SP propaganda called a "working consultation", Edi Rama gave a clear message to all present: no one is moving from their positions, neither in the campaign nor in the government.
According to "Pamphlet" sources, the prime minister opened the meeting with a statement that also clarified the relations with Erion Veliaj:
"The Constitutional Court's decision changes only one small thing; Veliaj's people can finally get closer to the campaign, to make their political contribution."
In essence, Rama made it clear to his group that full control of the Tirana campaign would remain in the hands of Belinda Balluku, who is also deputy prime minister, excluding any influence from Veliaj’s camp.
“Belinda will continue as the head of the capital’s campaign, whenever the elections are held,” Rama said, sending a clear signal to the Socialist Party that Veliaj and his people would remain on the periphery of decision-making.
Rama publicly defends Balluk: The attack on Balluk is "Aggression against me and the SP"
At the meeting, Rama also addressed the issue of SPAK's investigation into Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, calling it "an aggression against the Socialist Party."
"This issue has nothing to do with Belinda, but it is an attack on us, on me and on the SP. And we will respond clearly and firmly, together," Rama declared, hinting that the SP will come to the minister's defense.
According to sources, Balluku spoke after Rama, emphasizing that she is calm and convinced that she has not committed any legal violations, and has even defended her collaborators and the government:
"We acted as a team, with the aim of completing the works on time," she said, referring to the works on the Llogara Tunnel, for which an investigation has been launched.
Rama has subsequently announced that the SP will take a political stance on this issue the moment SPAK requests the lifting of immunities in Parliament:
"We have been silent for a long time in the face of SPAK, but this story is over. We will speak out strongly, respecting justice, but stopping the denigration of the government and the works that have transformed the country," emphasized Prime Minister Rama/ Pamphlet
