The head of the Socialist Party's parliamentary group rejected the accusations of the democratic leader Sali Berisha and called for political cooperation for the European integration process. Balla reacted to the statements of Sali Berisha, who accused Edi Rama of closing Albania's door to the European Union.
The Chairman of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group said that the government has submitted to the Assembly the annual report on the country's progress in the accession process. According to him, Albania has fulfilled the obligations related to this process and this is confirmed by the European institutions.
Balla emphasized that the European Commission's report assesses that all intermediate milestones have been met and that the procedure continues from the European Commission to the Council and then to the member states.
He also mentioned the statements made by Marta Kos and Kaja Kallas, according to which the objective of completing the membership process by 2030 is considered realistic. He also said that Albania and Montenegro should prepare to participate in the 2029 European elections.
Balla called on the opposition to cooperate and stop making accusations against the country.
" The government's annual report on the path towards the EU has arrived. What we must proudly say to Albanians is a fact from the EC, EP and CoE, that Albania has fulfilled the obligations arising from the process of membership of our common Albania in the EU. All intermediate milestones according to the EC report have been met, there is a procedure that we all know that goes from the EC to the Council and from the Council to the member states.
By the beginning of June, as communicated by Kos and Kallas, that Albania's expectation to complete the membership process by 2030 is realistic, I am even quoting Kallas who said that Albania together with Montenegro should get ready to participate in the European elections of 2029. This is a fact, regarding all these emails you said, the news you said. Give up this mud you are throwing against Albania, you do not have Albania as an enemy country. We cannot elect you, but it is time to work together. It does you no honor to curse from breakfast to dinner , "said Balla.
