The Socialists' "Stalingrad" turns against Edi Rama

The debate over the "Edith Durham" school in the Assembly reveals clashes between deputies and socialist leaders in the capital...

A question session in the Assembly on the delay in the opening of the “Edith Durham” school in Tirana turned into a political clash between MPs and the government. Erion Braçe accused the Ministry of Education and the Municipality of Tirana of negligence, while Albana Vokshi raised concerns about the inadequate design of the new building. The debate ended with an exchange of responsibilities between Mirela Kumbaro and Ogerta Manastirliu. The episode reflects the growing tensions within the SP of Tirana, where MPs, local leaders and party structures are clashing for political control and for the management of problems on the ground.

Erion Braçe, the socialist deputy of the capital, one of the most voted in the May 11 elections, held a question session today in the Assembly with the Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, regarding the delay in the completion of the 9-year school "Edith Durham". One of the most populated and qualitative schools of the capital, where a large part of the residents of unit number 5, but also from other peripheral units, study.

Braçe, who is engaged in Tirana's "Stalingrad", as the unit with the most voters and the storehouse of socialist votes in history is now called, criticized the authorities, namely the Tirana municipality and the Ministry of Education, for delaying the delivery of the new building and the return of students to their school.

For two years, the students and teachers of the "Edith Durham" school, which Braçe called by its old name "January 11", not coincidentally, have been studying at the nearby "Emin Duraku" school, developing the process in the afternoon shift.

The Minister of Education, Mirela Kumbaro, seems to have arrived totally unprepared and in her responses to Erion Braçe, she spoke adhering to her boss's logic, propaganda, fog and very few facts.

Kumbaro said that 'the school has been completed, but it is not yet complete with didactic tools, but it is being done.' Although the deadline set for last September has passed, the Minister of Education said that the opening is expected to take place next September.

Erion Braçe, who, as he said, represented the concerns of the students' parents and grandparents, harshly criticized the Minister of Education for negligence in the handover of the "Edit Durham" school.

Meanwhile, then the DP MP, Albana Vokshi, a resident of the area where the zone is located, spoke, raising a legitimate concern that was also noted in the Minister of Education's report.

Vokshi said that 'the new school is designed for fewer students than are actually in this school', which means that even if it opens, not all students will be placed in one shift.

Mirela Kumbaro herself admitted in her speech that the staff had prepared it, but it seems that she had an internal idea that there are 13 lower-level classes, while today at "Edith Durham" there are 25 parallel classes from grades 1 to 5. Which means that 12 classes will continue to teach in the second shift.

Albana Vokshi asked Ogerta Manastirliu, who was the Minister of Education at the time the school was built, to answer for this. Vokshi went even further, saying that she should be held accountable before the courts.

Manastirliu, who took the floor after Vokshi, completely panicked, said that the school project was done by the Tirana municipality, and it is responsible for all the work done.

Ogerta is the leader of the capital's socialists and a potential candidate for mayor, who did not wait but immediately blamed Erion Veliaj, who is in prison.

What happened today in the Assembly is just the 'tip of the iceberg and total chaos', where Edi Rama has dissolved the Tirana branch of the Socialist Party, and it is clear that the situation has completely gotten out of control. The meeting with the regional deputies was a complete failure, as not all of them were introduced, and they clashed with each other, not understanding "the first from the second".

Today Rama had scheduled a meeting with the heads of administrative units to try to organize a parallel meeting to find reasons to attack the deputies. But he learned that a good part of them would repeat the situation with the deputies, and it could even turn out worse. So he postponed the meeting indefinitely, since everything is really out of control now.

At the grassroots level, unit leaders block MPs, telling them that you have the mandates, so those who want the grassroots should be voted in.

In other words, a real revolt, which no longer has just a few clans, but the party has been divided into 14 or more parts. Meanwhile, the "First Secretary" appointed by the Prime Minister, Ogerta Manastirliu, is no longer questioned by any of the leaders of local socialist organizations or structures./ Pamphlet
