
One patient died from the fire in the emergency service of the Psychiatry Clinic at KKUK, while three health workers were asphyxiated.
The patient with a psychiatric illness was hospitalized in the clinic, but he left there in the late hours of Wednesday, while later he was brought by the Kosovo Police to the emergency department of the Psychiatry Clinic.
It is not yet known how the fire was caused.
While another patient, the care team, which included two doctors and two nurses, suffered signs of smoke poisoning and were treated in the Emergency.
The Kosovo Police also reacted to the case.
"Today around 00:15, it was reported that in the Psychiatry clinic in Pristina, a room was engulfed in fire. The police and the state prosecutor immediately went to the scene, and the firemen were also invited and they located the fire. As a result of the fire in this case, one person died and five others received medical treatment", said the spokesperson of the Police for the Pristina region, Flora Ahmeti. "Currently, the police, in coordination with the prosecutor, have started investigative actions for the complete clarification of the circumstances characterizing the case, which has been described as arson and causing general danger," the police announced.
