The former KFOR adviser, Alessandro Politi, said that the kidnapping of three policemen in the north of Kosovo is an event that burdens politics.
He said that the dialogue has always been difficult between the two sides, but previously both sides were seen as responsible.
" These types of incidents can happen and that's what happened. I'm not saying they will happen again, but I said that unfortunately it happened. For how long have there been joint patrols between KFOR and the Kosovo police around the demilitarized zone of 1000 meters, of the border, because there were precise agreements and there were defined procedures. This is unfortunately a fact. The fact that it happened and now certainly complicates the political situation, but every institution and government must make its own choices ," said Politi.
The former KFOR adviser added that he is worried about the fact that the US stopped Kosovo's participation in Defender 23 and that the EU has warned of sanctions.
" I hope that a good political negotiation can return the balance because I am sure that both countries need to have a common Euro-Atlantic approach, " Politi declared.
