During the Security Conference, organized in Washington with the participation of several American congressmen and Albanian MPs, who are in the US as part of an official visit, Keith Self raised the idea of Kosovo's membership in NATO.
Congressman Keith Self, also chairman of the House Committee on Europe, emphasized that he is for clear balances in Europe.
"I am working for Kosovo to join NATO, because it will greatly increase stability in the Balkan region."
I want balance in the Balkans, and I think it's one of the key parts, and I've taken this on as a mission, because I think Kosovo's membership in NATO would be a very stabilizing force in the Balkans.
So, we need to make progress in this direction, and we need to respond to the objections of some countries.
"I believe this is a key part of what we are talking about today, because security in the Balkans, the Balkans today, I consider as a 'powder keg', and we need to resolve this in order to bring some stability," he said.
This stance by Congressman Self was welcomed by those present in the hall.
