Meningitis breaks out in Kosovo, about 65 cases are treated in the KKUK

Meningitis has broken out in recent weeks in Kosovo. In the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (KKUK), from July of this year, until today, 45 patients with meningitis in pediatric age groups and 20 cases in adults have been treated.

According to an announcement from KKUK, it is known that in the last two months there has been an increase in the number of patients, compared to the previous months.

However, as announced by the KKUK, the situation is under complete control and the Infectious Disease Clinic has sufficient professional and spatial capacities to treat patients.

" Currently, 11 cases of meningitis are being treated at the Infectious Disease Clinic, 2 of them pediatric. From January to July of this year, 38 patients were treated.

These figures were made known during the meeting that the general director of ShSKUK, Elvir Azizi, had with the director of the Infectious Disease Clinic, Arben Vishaj, and the staff of the clinic ," the announcement states.

The University Hospital and Clinical Service of Kosovo has appealed to citizens to strictly respect the measures recommended by the Ministry of Health and the National Institute of Public Health.
