Albania demands from Kosovo the establishment of the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority since the United States of America has given guarantees that it will not have executive powers.
For the normalization of Kosovo-Serbia relations, the new ambassador of Albania in Kosovo, Petrit Malaj, emphasizes that Kosovo must take steps to work on the draft statute presented in October by the Euro-American emissaries.
Malaj emphasizes that Albania strongly supports Kosovo for the implementation of the basic agreement and will continue to play its role to promote peace, stability and cooperation.
In an interview for KosovaPress, the Albanian diplomat in Pristina also talked about the relations between Albania and Kosovo, the implementation of the agreements reached between these two countries, as well as the Durrës-Prishtina railway and its economic impact in the future.
"These are things taken for granted, in this case I'm talking about Kosovo and not about Serbia, and obviously Serbia sets its own hurdles and never goes further, it says 'yes', it says 'no' the next day. I want to say that Kosovo must take its own steps and Albania has actually been in this situation or in this direction of political action here in Kosovo where it has supported the Franco-German plan and the making of the Association.
Our Prime Minister (Edi Rama) has also presented a draft, but it was not said to be that draft. Kosovo can do the draft itself or in the specific case it was served by international allies. But I can say that Kosovo has taken the right step and our prime minister has supported this. Prime Minister Rama saying that "Kosovo has already done what it needs to do, but its implementation remains to be done." It is understood that our ally, the United States of America, QUINT have all said and say strongly that this Association will not have executive powers and on the other hand it must be definitely executed by going to the Constitutional Court, receiving the remarks as it is happening," said Malaj.
