The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has commented on the situation in the north of Kosovo after the attack on September 24, where the policeman Afrim Binjaku was killed.
In an interview for the Italian newspaper 'La Repubblica', Osmani talks about everything from the 'terrorist act', as she calls it, to relations with the US and the EU, as well as the dialogue process with Serbia.
Osmani has also spoken about the deployment of the armed forces of Serbia on the border with the north of Kosovo, saying that Aleksandër Vucic is trying to commit another act of aggression.
As for the January 24 attack, Osmani says that Vučić, with Russia's weapons, is considering the annexation of North Mitrovica according to the model of Crimea. But the head of Kosovo says to the Italian media that Serbia should know that it will face a people ready to defend its freedom at all costs and that NATO is with them.
"He has always had territorial claims, now he wants to use Putin's model for a Crimea-style annexation. Of course we won't allow it. We work with NATO forces to protect our hard-won freedoms, our independence," Osmani emphasizes.

First the attack in Banjska, now Serbian troops on the border. President Vjosa Osmani, what is happening in Kosovo?
"There is irrefutable evidence. Serbia committed an act of aggression on the 24th and is preparing to commit another act by strengthening the armed forces and artillery on the border with Kosovo. It is something different from what we have seen in the last 25 years, unprecedented. "Serbia is still guided by Milosevic's mentality and tries to erase everything that the United States, Europe and our people have achieved in two decades: peace, stability and freedom".
Do you think Belgrade wants to invade Kosovo?
"He has always had territorial claims, now he wants to use Putin's model for a Crimea-style annexation. Of course we won't allow it. We work with NATO forces to protect our hard-won freedoms, our independence."
Do you see a concrete risk for the next hours or days?
"The alarm raised by the US is very, very real. They want to enter Kosovo and take part of our territory. There is much evidence that the situation is extremely worrying. Serbia should know that it will face a people ready to defend its freedom at all costs and that NATO is with us".
Do you know of a plan of attack? Are they targeting the north or even Pristina?
"We are still collecting evidence, it is not time to make it public. Historically, they are more interested in the North."
Why do you accuse Serbian President Vucic of being really responsible for the attack on the 24th in Banjska?
"Because he is the leader of these gangs, he has always been the leader of these gangs: he trained and paid them, gave them orders and it will soon become clear that he ran the operation, obviously with other executioners.

Por nuk thashë që BE-ja nuk është aleate: Kosova është vendi më pro-evropian në botë, mbi 90% janë për integrim”.
Pse procesi i paqes ka mbetur i bllokuar?
“Vuçiç abuzoi me politikën aktive të qetësimit të një pjese të BE-së ndaj tij. Kanë kaluar 12 vite dialog dhe ai nuk ka zbatuar shumicën e marrëveshjeve. Krijoi tensione dhe destabilizoi rajonin, por BE-ja nuk mori asnjë masë kundër Serbisë. Është i vetmi vend në Evropë që nuk ka lançuar sanksione kundër Putinit dhe më shumë distancohet Serbia, BE aq më shumë e financon. Marrëdhëniet e mira fqinjësore janë një nga parimet themelore të BE-së, por nuk funksionoi: kështu inkurajohet Vuçiq të bëhet edhe më dominues.
A është Putin pas kësaj krize apo nuk ka asnjë lidhje me të këtë herë?
“Sigurisht, dhe nuk e fshehin: ata e mbështesin Serbinë politikisht, ekonomikisht dhe ushtarakisht. Kjo krizë është në interesin e Rusisë: ajo dëshiron që konfliktet në tokën evropiane të largojnë vëmendjen nga Ukraina. Kosova është dëshmi se çfarë mund të arrijnë demokracitë kur bashkohen për liri, pavarësi dhe demokraci; dhe Putinit nuk i pëlqen kjo. Ai e di që me këtë model do të humbasë edhe luftën në Ukrainë”.
Pse nuk i zgjidhni tensionet duke krijuar asociacionin e komunave serbe të paraparë me marrëveshjen e paqes?
"If you were to go to the border and see the army deployed by Serbia, if you had seen the criminal and terrorist groups that they have trained so far, you would understand: Kosovo has always repeated that it wants to implement all obligations , but it makes no sense for Kosovo to implement everything and Serbia nothing. Vucic has already said that he will not do his part".
Will you meet him?
"No, nothing is planned. At this moment we have to face the responsibility of Vucic for the attack on Kosovo and for the movements on the border. The terrorist attack of the 24th should spark reflection in the EU: if it wants a fruitful dialogue, it will have to change its policy towards Vučić".
