Burnley have appointed Michael James Jackson as interim manager for the remainder of the Premier League season, following the departure of manager Scott Parker. The name may be confusing due to its resemblance to the music icon, but it is the English coach who has long been part of the club's coaching staff.
The decision was made public through an official statement, where Burnley announced the termination of Parker's contract by mutual consent. The move comes after the team's mathematical relegation to the Championship, prematurely ending its season's objectives.
Michael Jackson is no stranger to the club. In the 2021-2022 season he managed the U23 team, while during the 2022-2023 edition he was part of the staff as an associate of Vincent Kompany. His experience within the club's structure is seen as a stabilizing factor in this transitional phase.
Jackson's debut as head coach is expected to come in the match against Leeds, while Burnley's management have simultaneously begun the search for a permanent coach for next season.
