Besiktas' elimination in the semi-finals of the Turkish Cup seems to have sealed a disappointing season for the Istanbul club. With no significant goals until the end of the championship and with the maximum chance of qualifying for the Conference League, the management has started to make decisions about the team's future.
According to Turkish daily Sabah, Besiktas have decided not to activate the purchase option for five players they have signed on loan. Among them is Albanian international midfielder Kristjan Asllani, who joined the team in January from Inter.
The report points out that there were dilemmas regarding the cost of the player's transfer from the moment of the transfer. Inter had set a buyout clause of around 12 million euros, a figure that is already considered high by the Turkish club's management, especially after a trophyless season.
Under these conditions, Asllani is expected to end his short adventure at Besiktas within two weeks and return to Inter. However, according to Italian and Turkish media, the Albanian midfielder is not seen as part of the black and blues' plans for next season, so the possibility of another transfer during the summer transfer window is not ruled out.
