CONMEBOL rejects Madrid, Spain-Argentina 'Finalissima' could be played

The "Finalisima" match between Spain and Argentina, which pits the European champion against the Latin American champion, could take place in Milan. The legendary San Siro stadium is being considered as one of the main alternatives to host the super challenge scheduled to be played on March 27.

The match was originally scheduled to take place in Qatar. However, due to the conflict in the Middle East, the organizers have been forced to look for another location and a decision is expected to be made soon.

In recent days, the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid has also been mentioned as a backup option. However, according to reports, CONMEBOL prefers the match to be held in a neutral stadium to avoid Spain's home advantage.

According to the Italian daily “La Gazzetta dello Sport”, there is no official decision yet. However, two main alternatives remain in the discussions: Milan and Lisbon. The Portuguese capital is considered logistically suitable, but the attraction and symbolism of “San Siro” make Milan a very strong candidate. The opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics could also have an impact in this regard.

If the match is to be played at San Siro, Argentina could also have a protagonist who will practically be playing at home. It is Inter striker Lautaro Martínez. The player has already started training on the pitch to return from injury and is expected to be ready for Inter's match against Fiorentina on March 22.

After returning to the club, Martínez intends to join the Argentine national team for the match against Spain, with the objective of adding another trophy to his list of achievements.
