Nigeria's "Super Eagles" have shown once again why they are among the main favorites for the trophy in this edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. With a brilliant performance, they thoroughly defeated Mozambique with a score of 4–0, securing passage to the quarterfinals of the tournament, with a clean record: 4 wins in 4 matches.
Nigeria's qualification follows Egypt's earlier success against Benin (3–1 after extra time), and makes the sixth African team to reach the round of 16.
The Nigerians' scorers were the team's most prominent names: Ademola Lookman in the 20th minute; Victor Osimhen with a brace in the 25th and 47th minutes; Adams sealed the result in the 75th minute, adding two assists to his outstanding performance.
Coach Erik Çele continued to trust Olympiacos left-back Bruno Onyemaechi, who started for the third consecutive match, confirming his form and importance to the team.
Nigeria will face the winner of the match between Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, in the quarter-finals.
