After Sporting Lisbon, three other teams have booked their place in the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League: Arsenal, PSG and Real Madrid.
Arsenal secured qualification after a 2-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the second leg, also benefiting from a 1-1 draw in the first leg.
The London team opened the scoring in the 36th minute with Ebereshi Eze, who finished accurately from distance after an assist from Leandro Troshard. In the second half, in the 63rd minute, Declan Rice doubled the lead with a powerful shot from outside the area, sealing qualification.
PSG confirmed their lead from the first leg (5-2) by also winning the away leg against Chelsea with a score of 0-3 at Stamford Bridge.
The French took the lead in the 6th minute through Kvicha Kvaratskhelia, after a solo effort. Just eight minutes later, Bradley Barkola doubled the lead after a quick counterattack. The third goal was scored by Seni Majulu in the 62nd minute, sealing a convincing qualification for PSG.
Real Madrid triumphed in the return match against Manchester City with a score of 1-2, after a 0-3 victory in the first leg.
Vinicius Junior opened the scoring in the 22nd minute from a penalty spot he himself won. In the same match, Bernardo Silva was sent off for handball. City equalised in the 41st minute through Erling Haaland, but Vinicius scored his second goal in extra time to secure the victory for the Madrid side.
For Real Madrid, the match was also accompanied by adverse developments: goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered an injury, while positive news was the return to the field of Kylian Mbappe.
