Anis Mehmeti seems to have settled into his new role at Ipswich just weeks after joining. The Albanian striker is earning rave reviews from the team, with teammate Leif Davis recently speaking out about his progress.
The English defender has described Mehmet as a very important reinforcement for Ipswich, emphasizing both his qualities with the ball and his contribution in the game without the ball.
" Anisi is an exceptional acquisition for us. He seems very lively with the ball and works hard for the team. He has settled in very quickly ," said Davis. According to him, Mehmeti perfectly represents the team's philosophy: constant work and sacrifice in every phase of the game.
Davis also shared an episode from one of the first training sessions, where Mehmeti impressed him immediately. "He came up to me, I passed the ball to him and he did the rest. I thought, 'Wow, we have a real player here ,'" he said.
The Ipswich defender stressed that, beyond his technical ability, Mehmet's greatest strength is his off-ball play. " He works incredibly hard for the team. He doesn't just play for himself, he knows exactly what he needs to do on the pitch for the good of everyone ," Davis added, underlining that everyone in the squad has the same objective at the end of the season.
Davis also mentioned Sam Morsi's role in Mehmet's decision to move to Ipswich. Morsi, a former player at the club and previously a teammate of Mehmet's at Bristol City, had advised the Albanian striker on the move.
" Mehmeti spoke to Sam when he was at Bristol. He knows the club very well and said it was a no-brainer ," Davis said. He also praised Morsi's respect and commitment to Ipswich, adding that, although he is absent as a player, his contribution has helped the club gain an important player in Mehmeti.
Ipswich hopes that the Albanian striker's rapid adaptation will soon be accompanied by his first goal, while expectations for him in the team are already high.
