Swiss club Basel has been embroiled in an unusual situation after an error in the automatic translation of an official announcement regarding the condition of footballer Xherdan Shaqiri.
In an attempt to inform about the injury suffered by the winger of Albanian origin in the last match, the club published a statement in the local language. However, the automatic translation of the text produced an incorrect wording, presenting the news as a “life-changing” event for the player, instead of a sports injury.
The error occurred at the beginning of the announcement, where the terms used in the original language were not interpreted correctly by the system, leading to serious misinformation.
Bazel's post has been shared rapidly on social media, prompting numerous reactions from fans and public opinion, who have pointed out the inaccuracy and lack of verification before publication.
