The former director of Civil Emergencies, Shemsi Prençi, spoke after the violence against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's lawyer, Sokol Mêngjesi today.
Shemsi Prençi calls the attack on the lawyer, who is already intubated, a very serious event that happened in the middle of Tirana.
According to Prenç, the fact that the perpetrators openly rape him in a very populated area makes it alarming.
"This is a very serious event that took place near an educational institution, and in the first view of the photos you broadcast, parents of children are seen coming and going. Which means that a small group of four people rape a parent, let's not assume that he is a lawyer, a parent who just left his daughter in the kindergarten is a very serious incident," Prençi told Report TV.
Furthermore, Prençi emphasizes that no one has the right to brutally abuse a parent in front of the school, regardless of the motives.
"Regardless of the motives, no one has the right to brutally abuse a parent near the children's school or even a lawyer. If it is alluded to a matter of property interests, I do not accept it because the composition of the group did not belong to a family that may have such interests, but there were three surnames in the group. It should be considered a very serious event. We are in 2024, we claim a state of law and when a lawyer in the middle of Tirana is not safe, think what can be done to the streets of Albania. When crime comes to the streets, the police have lost the battlefield" , said Prençi.
